  • Open access publishing enables peer reviewed, accepted journal articles to be made freely available online to anyone with access to the internet. Open access publishing with the SOAJ is funded through author publication charges. This model differs from the subscription based publishing model, whereby readers (or more commonly, readers' institutions) pay for access to journal articles.
  • SOAJ publishes a range of scientific, technical, medical and health related journals. We accept research, review articles, case reports, short communications, letter to editors, and editorials.
  • Articles published as open access with SOAJ journals are published under Creative Commons Attribution License 4.0 (Attribution-NonCommercial CC BY-NC 4.0).
  • Authors retain the sole copyright of their work under the terms outlined by the Creative Commons licenses while allowing others to copy, distribute, and use the work in a non-commercial way. The user of the information should acknowledge the author of the original work.
  • Author fees are set at USD200 per article with no additional charge for length, inclusion of colour or if an invoice is requested. Payment can be made online using a secure payment form as soon as the manuscript has been editorially accepted. We will we send a receipt by email once payment has been processed.

  • There is no page limit for regular or special issue manuscripts but Editorial articles should not exceed 2000 words.
  • Typically, four weeks. This includes peer review and the time required by the editorial decision-maker to arrive at a decision. Occasionally a longer period may be needed to ensure that sufficient peer reviewers can be found or if the editorial decision-maker requests additional time. Authors are informed promptly of the reason for any delays. The accepted articles will be published online within 15 days.

  • Yes, reprints are available. Journals are not published in print.
